Property tax information

Town of Melville property taxes are processed by the St. Landry Parish Assessors Office, office of Rhyn Duplechain Tax Assessor. The Town receives our notices sometime between October and November of every year (depending on the Assessor's’ office schedule and workload). Property tax payments are due in our office by December 31st of the tax year. Each month after December 31st, any taxes that are unpaid will be assessed a late fee of $0.83 per month. If your property tax is paid by your mortgage company, it is the responsibility of the property owner to make sure that the mortgage company receives and pays your taxes.

If you are not receiving your tax notice, please contact our office to verify your mailing address, or you can complete the Property Tax Change form and send it to Town Hall.

Property tax changes
We are working with the Assessor’s office to try and have your property tax notices delivered electronically.
